PARALELA was originated in 2015, as an initiative of SPIRAX research group, coordinated by artist and teacher Alexandre Molina, to share the activities that were being developed by the students of the bachelor’s course of Dance at Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU), on the curricular component Dance Practices II: body performance.
Traditionally, the Dance program holds the event Sala Aberta, which is a space for student’s projects presentation with the evaluation of the teachers and invited artists, amongst other activities
PARALELA’s activities, then, articulate in parallel with the organization of Sala Aberta, articulating the discussions and occupying the breaks of the primary event.
Besides the student’s presentations, PARALELA also holds artist's participation so students can relate to the professional experiences on the field beyond their academic activities
Therefore, PARALELA has become an independent event. This format has been improving year after year, always interacting with the historical, political and social context in which Brazil is inserted.
